My Story

I am a licensed clinical social worker and psychotherapist who has trained extensively both professionally and personally.

I have studied at major California research universities including the University of California Santa Barbara where I received a dual major degree in psychology and English and completed independent research in Dr. Nancy Collins' Close Relationship Lab.  I later went on to receive my graduate degree from California State University Dominguez Hills where I specialized in community mental health.

My professional training includes a rigorous clinical internship with the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health at Harbor UCLA Medical Center as well as 3 years of postgraduate training at a private Southern California CBT and DBT speciality clinic.  I am a diplomate of the Academy of Cognitive and Behavioral Therapies and consistently deliver evidence-informed cognitive behavioral and dialectical behavioral therapy, specific to people experiencing comorbid mood and anxiety disorders as well as personality disorders.

Prior to working in mental health, I worked for over a decade as a first responder and emergency medical technician (EMT) for Los Angeles County where I continue to consult as a member of the Los Angeles County Fire Department’s Behavioral Health peer support team.

Although there are many, some of my professional interests include evolutionary psychology, obsessive compulsive spectrum disorders, and applications of nutrition and exercise in enhancing wellbeing and reducing mental health challenges.  Outside of work, I am an avid surfer, traveler, consumer of scientific research, and amateur chef.
